Ah c'mon, Diwali, for the kids at least, would just be another day without the lights and fireworks.
As the sage would say, in inimitable verse:
Agnishikha, esho, esho, ano ano alo.
--Oh fire-filament, come, bring bring (thy) light.
Dukkhey shukhey gharey gharey grihadeep jwalo..
--amidst happiness and sadness – in every home light the home-lamp..
