shooting in pubs

In my misspent youth going from one end of England to another in haze of beer fumes, one gets to see wonders in local pubs of Devizes, Birmingham and west midlands.
where the tradition of rifle range is still going on, yes i am not under the spell of amber nectar at the moment, yes rifle ranges in pubs, oh i just can see the chap asking the barman for a pint "eh landlord one more round please , no no wait let me shoot first." holding a pint in one hand and a rifle in the other putting rounds in some 40ft of tube hitting a bulls eye and having a pint with mates, what more can a deprived chap ask for? ok fish and chips with peas on the way home.
yes those were the days, when one could shoot in the pub, i am told this came about during the Boer war, the army wanted man who could shoot and so it was done in pubs, never a death took place or injury caused by shooting more of headache in the morning for swilling to much ale. so i asked what happened? gambling they said put an end to the rifle range.
however there are few still operating though, try the lamb in Devizes for a pint and shoot.
