19 degrees(F) yesterday, 11 below zero last night, 1 degree(high)today. 12 inches of snow on top of 3 inches. Snow plows quit yesterday as high wind blows the snow right back. Shopping malls closed, food stores mostly out of food due to people stocking up. Airport closed.

BUT.. went out birdhunting two days ago. Dogs (German Wirehaired Pointers) worked well. Came back with four quail. (20 g Browning SxS.) Lots of dry firewood in garage, food in fridge, wife is cooking and doing laundry, but looks pretty cute. I'm doing business stuff, dogs sleeping after hopping around in the snow. Could be worse.

It's been cold!
It's a chore to go outside, especially going to work in the morning. Car engines don't want to turn over and it takes forever for the heat to start blowing.

Though I believe Steve is in Wisconsin, this applies to him too.
This, below, is almost true, but the very last part is absolutely true.

During the winter of '81/'82, it got really, really cold with some unearthly windchills. It was too cold to go to classes but we could go down to the liquor store and buy booze.

I was looking for the temperature at which Minnesotans are out on Lake Minnetonka playing volleyball and sitting on sofas with their feet up, just like a summer day on the beach in other places.

(My brother says: "You wanna go see where the rich people live? We can drive there now!" and off he goes with his F150, driving about on the ice…)

My wife is from Duluth. She says that when the ice breaks on the shore of Gitcheegoomie, the kids put on their bathing suits and go swimming off Park Point.
On a side note, my daughter finished her gig with the Minnesota Conservation Corps and picked up a part time job at the Minnetonka Country Club (by the Minnetonka Yatch Club. LOL). The tips are great and she has some stories about the prices at the restaurant and the amounts people spend there!
