Welcome Subhash to IFG :D
As a starter you could get in touch with fellow IFG members "Molindu" & "Harshvardhan" who are located close to where you live.
That should a good beginning :D
Good Luck!

Dear Subash,
Welcome to IFG and your shooting dreams. Since you appear to have no idea whatsoever on shooting sport, the first step would to be try and locate a club within commuting distance that would have a basic safety course. There you would start on an air rifle. Stick with it for a while and try out air pistol too if you can. Then on, you can with interaction, aptitude and experience choose which shooting discipline to progress on. "This shooting sport" isn't a singular event like say cricket or soccer but comprises of several disciplines and sub-disciplines. TenX's book gives a good coverage on various shooting disciplines in India. Look it up on the site for details or his site for online order. It provides comprehensive information on shooting sports in India. Slightly taxing on the pocket but definitely worth every buck. :-) This is about competitive shooting. Of course, should you choose to be a relaxed "plinker", there's also wealth of information about the same. Either way, safety rules MUST be observed and law of the land stay un-violated. :-) The rest is up to you. So good luck and safe shooting.

Dear Subash, I believe NRAI has branched off a separate NorthEast Zone from this year. May be contacting them would give your search further boost. Also be sure to share your experiences here for benefit of those who would follow. Good Luck. regs, A.

Look for member 'charminar'. Send him a PM. He is based out of Shillong and is an office bearer of the Meghalay State Rifle Association. Very helpful person.
