Unprofessional for sure.

Unless you are a police chief, can't say much about it.

Ya, he made a lot of people angry, especially those in power, by calling certain laws unconstitutional.
The first Amendment of the US Constitution being what it is, he has every right to.

Before everyone starts calling me names, please not I have not offered an opinion here. I'm just stating facts.

As a private citizen, he can say what he wants and, if he's got the Class 3 licenses to own those automatic weapons, that's all legal, as well.

If he is shooting firearms that belong to the police department, he can't claim to be shooting them on his own time.

But, and this is the big but, since he is the police chief, what the one guy in the video says is true: if he shoots someone in the course of his duties, that video is going to come up in any criminal or civil trial as evidence against him, and even worse for the municipality he works for, in a lawsuit against the municipality. The municipality, I would say, was wise in firing him. The thing is, what is a jury going to think, when they see this video? It is too much risk for the town to take.

Furthermore, the chief should have been aware of the position he was putting the town in when he made the video, and this gives me an idea of his judgment -- which isn't very good. As a private citizen, I would hate to be pulled over by a neck vein like this guy on a rural road on a dark night.
