I am am travelling by train and Mumbai Central, mumbai CST, MUMBAI CSTM are so confusing names....

I am travelling by train from pune to mumbai. Route say train reaches at CSTM. and then I have to go to BCT for train to delhi. Whats the distance between the CSTM AND BCT? CAN I GET A TAXI OR AUTO EASILY BETWEEN THESE PLACES??

Be assured the public transport facility is pretty good in the city of Mumbai. Only thing one has to be aware of is the traffic situation in the city. Take an early start for where ever you intend going. Then ADD half hour extra to the time you think is an early start. you'd rather you saw the train arriving at the designated platform then see it chugging away from It.

CSTM or CST is Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, aka Victoria terminus - the one of UNESCO world heritage and Kasab fame.

BCT is Mumbai Central.

Get down at CSTM, and if you are travelling light, ask for the "new entrance" - you'll have to cross over the FOB towards the left as you face the front of the train. This exits towards Dockyard / Yellow Gate side - less crowded. Take a cab (you don't get autos in South Mumbai) for Mumbai Central. Don't say BCT, tell them "Mumbai Central station". If you have heavy luggage, it might be more convenient to get out of the old exit - just go along the platform in towards the front of your train, keep going until you are out of the station. Try to take a cab from the road, the guys trying to crowd you as you exit would most probably have "supertuned" meters! Whatever anyone tells you, don't try for a bus!!!

Total time should be 45 minutes to 1 hr depending on traffic. Of course, with Ganpati season, you can never say! If you can give the dates & times, I can probably give a closer estimate.

Aww heck guys, you really think I would celebrate my progress towards eventual senility??!!?? Amarinder, poor chap, would have been looking for pointers to survive the CST-BCT conundrum, and here you guys are looking for a treat!!!!
