Indians For Guns

A second attempt by pakistans army-terrorist BATs has resulted in the murder of army soldiers. The Indian government backpedals its stance and changes its statement thrice in three days. A bihar state minister says that martyrdom has a price. JDU blames the RJD, RJD blames the JDU, BJP blames congress, Congress questions the BJP. In the midst of all this, those 5 shattered families will silently wake up and go about picking up the pieces of their lives ony by one and try to cobble together a semblance of normalcy for the orpahned kids left behind who will never feel their fathers pick them up, the widowed wives staring out at the village paths which will never be trodden by those men, the devastated parents who wont have the joy of the light of their lives coming and touching their feet. Friends who wont come back on leave to their pals.....
To this we can put a price

Think about that for a moment.

A nation which cannot respect its martyrs has something fundamentally wrong with it. What do you remember when you last met a man in uniform? Think about that too.

I have grown up amongst these troops. The first language i learnt was bhojpuri, which my dads driver taught me. I learnt to love sattu and litti before allu ke paranthe or sarson ki saag.
Happy men, who would do their work honestly and smile at the end of the day.
It pains me to think such good men lost their lives, and for what???
For a govt. which wont do anything
For a polity which finds it convenient to mark up a price tag on their deaths?

Is this worth a man offering the supreme sacrifice for his homeland?

I hope you write a word of condolence for those brave hearts with those sunny smiles and incorigible spirits.

They certainly have my respect, my shradhanjali.
May they rest in peace.

totally agree, no spine or backbone, all blame others, its a game.

when we are dealing with spineless politicians. who demand patriotism from others but have none themselves.

the only one who are sad are the family/friends of the dead ones, i wonder what they are thinking now? was it worth it? does my country love my father as much as he loved my country?

In peacetime, we find it convenient to forget the same men we call upon in times of war. Doubly so in India, when we do not need a war to scream for the Army. A flood, an earthquake, a riot, any crisis will see the men in uniform risking their lives.

RIP, brave sons of the country.

Absolutely AB, disgraceful and appaling the way the whole issue has been handled by the political parties. It is such a shame that this great countrys reins are in the hands of such spineless people.

I was shocked to read in the Times of India this morning about a politician having remarked....
" What is so great about losing one's life in a battle...
After all soldiers are supposed to do it as part of their job".
I can't believe that our politicians can spew such irresponsible statement - How these idiots get elected is beyond my thinking.
Shame on them.....

they have nothing to do with the development or protection of india ,and also they have nothing to do with the shahid soldiers
they will comment and do nothing,so that their comments are read by people as advertisment,,

these incidents have happend in every government...

Anyone standing for elections must fulfil the following conditions:
1. Must be a graduate from a recognized university
2. Must undergo a written test on GK, Governance, Constitutional law etc.
3. Attend an interview to assess oratory skills, civic sense, social conduct, negotiation skills & leadership qualities.
4. Must have held responsible position/s either in industry, government, NGO or associated with educational institutions.
5. Lastly "NO CRIMINAL RECORD"!

I know it's a wishful thought, nevertheless I've expressed it

Good perimeter i would also suggest the same ,unfortunately these rules cannot be applied cause they make the rules that can benift them ,now only talking about the increase of their salary is 300 % ,i am not aware of the reason of increase ,if i think its the inflation ,then the rate of inflation is only approx average 7 % every year as per the previous records ,,,this was only 1 of things they use to make the changes...

When the parties band together and get themselves out of the purview of RTI, how do you think they will pass such stringent qualifiers???
The slime of India is found congealed in the political class.

It is greater shame that soldiers were sleeping while on duty. Therefore were shot dead with only single shots from close range. Something seriously wrong with attitude or psychology of the soldiers or their working conditions.

5 were sleeping while the 6th was on guard duty.
The party was ambushed when the chap on guard duty went to relieve himself.
Maybe he was lax, maybe he didnt want to disturb his team mates.
That is a mistake to be looked into.
Those chaps were not derelict in their duty by sleeping in a stone bivouac and having a sentry posted at the entrance. On duty, everyone rotates the sentry duty. It is no shame. You have chosen an unfortunate expression.

If its indeed true that five slept and one was on guard duty, that needs to be corrected. 50/50 seems more practical.

Sometime in the NCC and having a keen interest in their work has naturally made me inclined to know more about the armed forces guys.

Always saw the SF guys sporting the BALIDAAN badge but only managed to ask one in Feb 2013 what is was for.......I was speechless when told for what......

Wonder if any politician or babu in this country will ever wear a BALIDAAN badge or agree to its conditions.....

Technically we have been at war since 1947 (cliched dialogue from a film, I know) but it is true.
These days we do not fight Ramayana and Mahabharata style, dawn to dusk battles. And the enemy is not always in uniform.
Then there is Economic wars and war by proxy. Which is exactly what both neighbours are engaged in.
Bottom-line, we need to adapt our thinking, strategy, tactics and actions.

As for respect for our fallen ? Forget ranting about it on IFG and FB. The citizenry does not care because of apathy and the need to be in survival mode.
The education starts at home.

Get the little ones to read about Major Som Nath Sharma, Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane, Major Dhan Singh Thapa, Company Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hamid, Lieutenant-Colonel Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, Naib Subedar Bana Singh, Major Ramaswamy Parameshwaran, Captain Vikram Batra and many others who fought but did not get any medals.

These days schools ask kids to do projects, ask the little ones to make projects on our war heroes....

Also get them to read books on history, military and autobiographies of famous personalities.....get into discussions with them, explain to them the rights and the wrongs about our foreign policy.

IN SHORT MAKE THEM AWARE....

Its the only way to ensure that our war heroes will be remembered.........And the right way to offer SHRADDHANJALI to our fallen.....
