Rust Removal

I thought some here may find this interesting. The recipe is simply white vinegar and salt. This person used 1 cup salt to 1 gallon vinegar but apparently you get the same result with as little as a tablespoon of salt per gallon. I wouldn't soak a gun in it but plenty of other things to clean.

I wonder just how many years it is that I`ve known that acid will remove rust ?
See, Naga, being stuck out there in the back of beyond the world just passes you by.

:agree: Dilute Hydrochloric Acid / Dilute Hydrofloric acid will give same result.

It creates Hydrochloric acid (NaCl + CH3COOH)

That eats rust, Zinc etc

Definitely not! Remember the blue finish on guns is also a version of rust, so anything that chemically removes rust will also remove bluing.
