Beware of Murray Custom Leather

Dear Friends,
I am writing this to bring to light unethical business practises of Murray Custom Leather.
I had heard of them through an acquaintance and after some research decided to order a few items from them, including the A 1 quickset sling.
In our emails i mentioned very clearly that i need Uncle Mike's Push Button QD swivels.
I shall be attaching the emails too and inspite of repeatedly confirming that i wanted those particular swivels, i was shipped slings with grovetec qd swivels instead.
Now, the gent wont agree to his mistake and insists that there is nothing to the matter.
While i understand that honest mistakes happen, this refusal to even acknowledge a mistake is very jarring.
Please beware of the gent.

Mr. Mehta,

We do ship international.   To place an order, please provide your complete shipping address  and the items desired.   E-mail your credit card information in 2 e-mails, one with the number and the other with the expiration date and code.   Shipping varies, depending on what you order. We normally ship air priority international.

Thanks,

Dick Murray

How are you doing? I found your website being recommended n quite a few online fora and thought i should drop you a line.
I am based out of New Delhi, India and am interested in buying a couple of slings from you and a couple of other small items.
Just wanted to check if you will take orders from outside USA and how should i deposit the money with you?

Mr Murray,
Thats lovely.
So, shall i send the credit card details over? Like you said, in two mails?
Just to confirm once again;
2 x  quick set leather slings. 1" width, with uncle mikes push button qd swivels. Dark tan.
1 x C3 shell carrier for the .30-06 cartridge, space for 7, dark tan. This should fit on the belt i am ordering from you which is,
1 x 1.5" dark tan trophy leather belt with stainless steel buckle. Length without buckle 44", for waist size 34"

I would like my initials ABM monogrammed within a plain oval border.

Thank you
Arjun

Three times, in three seperate emails, i mentioned exactly what i needed and was shipped the wrong items.
Upon this being brought to his attention, he flatly refused that i had mentioned anything about these slings. I then resent my emails to him to which he had replied earlier after reading them. Then the story changed to how they dont use chinese(uncle mikes) stuff and only american(grovetec) stuff and this is plainly stated on their website. I mentioned that that is why i was stressing upon the swivels i wanted and if they felt unable to deliver exactly what i wanted they should have told me so and i would have taken my business elsewhere.
Then the tone changed to him asking me to cut the leather loops and send the swivels back upon which they would give me 20 USD, which is half of what i would spend in sending the swivels to them.
After this there has been no response from his side.

Please beware of the website and dont give them your business.

Aside from they supplying you with American made swivels instead of the Chinese made ones you had specified, any issues with the quality of the product?

A quick look at the Brownells site and Grovtec swivels are $25 and Uncle Mikes are $16.Did they charge you extra for the Grovtec swivels as opposed to what they would have charged you for the Uncle Mikes ones?

Does not look very unethical to me.I would have been happy with the upgrade.

Hi Winnie, a few points:
1. The leather quality is good.
2. The loops of the sling in the swivels are installed are secured using a latigo knot, opening which is outside the scope of chaps here.
3. My rifle has push button studs, so i needed the pushbutton swivels.
4. I am now looking at either cutting the metal band of the swivels and hoping i can fit the pushbutton swivels someway without damaging the swivels.
5. Or i cut the leather, remove the swivels and install the pushbutton swivels and have the ends sown up.

The ethics is in telling me that they cant supply me with the exact parts i have specifically asked for and then telling me i should be happy for what i got.
There is not even an acknowledgement of an honest mistake!

Had a look at their site and the sling that you ordered is shown very clearly with the swivels that you got.You should have ordered the sling with the mill spec tactical swivels.Would have allowed you to use whatever swivels you have or wished to use.

Hi Winnie,
Thats why i was repeatedly confirming using UM pushbutton QD swivels.
And inspite of reading my mails, i was shipped with the wrong parts.
I will have a look at the link you posted more clearly but i was hoping to somehow remove those grovetec swivels and install the pushbutton ones without damaging/cutting the leather. Hopefully, by being able to dismantle the swivel or cutting through the metal band and somehow getting the new swivels band around the leather.
