The 'superior' in question was a gent called JK Ninama, PSI of the concerned Police Station. He was present with the Police party at the site when the robber/ dacoits were dancing and hurling brickbats in an drunken state on the lawn of the bungalow. A constable asked for permission to fire at them. He flatly refused, saying, 'lets them finish, we'll see after that'. He has been suspended as of yesterday. For once, the cops were on time and reached the spot as the robbery was in still progress, but their presence made no difference as the robbers escaped with booty worth Rs 5.25 lakh. This inaction enraged the residents of the society, especially since one of the four cops on the spot was armed with his service rifle.
"The cop did not fire even a warning shot. He claimed he could only fire if a superior officer ordered him to," said a resident of society.

None of the victims or their neighbors were armed. However, those who were armed, that is the Police, despite being at the spot while the crime was in progress, refused to take a sound judgement.
