I heard 2 gun shot accidents happened last week due to careless gun handling.

First news item appears to be more interested at creating sensation. The second news item appears gun safety rules not being followed by the security guard.

Gun safes and trigger locks are very important when it comes to inexperienced shooters, children and teenagers around the house.
When I got into collecting firearms, first thing I bought was a gun safe. My gf had just started living with me and was relatively inexperienced wrt firearms. The second step was to get her enrolled in NRA pistol course and later a Rifle course. Both helped a lot, now when we are with friends at the range, she guides others about firearms safety.
