Do wolf attacks on humans take place in parts of India?

I noticed the thread about a stray dog attack. Here in the States, we have been arguing about the degree to which wolves outside of North America attack humans. Older stories in the NY Times suggested that such had happened - with fatal results - at least as recently as the 90s. Here we regularly talk about bear guns -what we would use etc. Are there discussions like that in India regarding dangerous game calibers?

Yeah from early 19th Century to mid 1990's the attack was higher, now its getting lower. The last confirmed attack I heard was in 2008 when an old man was killed by wolves in Assam. For the early 19th century attacks, EDIT: please stick closer to the topic. It is not necessary to call the beliefs of others into question when making a point on IFG - moderator Animals need to know who's the boss and they should fear humans, which animals can only learn by getting some of them killed.
Very few discussion about calibers for dangerous games in India. Hell, very few can pronounce calibers properly, you'll regularly hear things like seven point five two into thirty nine (7.62x39, yeah they mistake 6 with 5), AKfortyseven bore referring to 7.62x39. The trend I've seen in India is most people only say the bore diameter, they'll say .22 bore and only god knows if it's .22lr, .223 Remington, .22 Magnum or .22 Savage. Or .275 bore without mentioning if it's .275 Rigby or .275 H&H Magnum.
