Agni V is one of rare tech missiles with a few nations having such type. We are proud of it as Indians.
How many nos. they produce and deploy (maintain later) is yet to be seen.
Cheers.....

No, it is not true! DRDO is a different agency, but both are under the Ministry of Defence.
Cheers!

Today I read in newspaper that China claims that Agni V range is 8000 Kms and not 5000 Kms.
Questions- How did they and we dont. Some one from IOFB in DRDO

Greater irony possibly is we are all delusional when
1. The AGNI V "targeted" enemy has 12000km range Dong Feng, or Dong Gong or Ping Pong or something such missile, in huge numbers and positioned across Himalayas with their nose-cones towards India.
2. A vehicle-based (and hence a mobile launched) missile that can shoot a satellite outta sky.
3. Roads and Rails right up to India's LOC (can't call frontier as a huge portion of that lies with Messrs. P and P). GOI gets scared & stops building its own roads and rails near the LOC regions when a person of a rank of a corporal or a major or an orderly from across the border says "No Beel Ding".

We might as well tuck our tails between our legs and start chanting "Chini-hindi-bhai-bhai" again.. Even if Agni-V gets operationalised, India wouldnt be able to have any kind of political, economic or offensive advantage vis-a-vis China as we are outgunned, out maneuvered and out numbered by china 10-1 in whatever way possible . Forget economic or political advantage, It wont even dare to posture with the Agni in any manner advantageous to the country in any way whatsoever when it comes to China.. So whats the point of spending thousands of crores in producing a weapons platform that does not deliver??
The way defense related scams are cropping up almost everyday in the country its a shame that this so called democracy can never seem to pull up its pants. We cant even set up a system to honestly acquire an outdated truck the likes of which could have been produced in the country by any of out truck manufacturers anyway! The way I see it, by the time even the 5th generation combat aircraft is to be inducted, some kind of scam would have been unearthed thereby delaying (if not altogether scrapping) the acquisition process by a few decades and our futile posturings against China would be a world class laugh!

Even if out numbered or outgunned by any country, making technological progress or being better equipped for defense is not a bad thing. But what is intriguing and puzzling is that on one hand the country is developing ICBMs and on the other hand it is one of the largest importer of arms in the world. It does not appear we are even making some good quality small arms like rifles.

Guys,
Agni V , does not exsits, in reality it is only in the papers of DRDO, MOD etc,
Just like Anmol Revolver.
Regards
PS. Actually it does exsist, like the the world class IOF .32 revolver .32 IOF pistol, IOF Cartridges in .22 also.
All these are like White Elephants, So is Agni V.
For allmost 15 year I am reading B****S about, Agnni I, II, II, IV.
Where they are deployed , What result they got.Which wing of armed forces used them and where?

Talking of technological progress -
AGNI V launch was postponed for a day due to inclement weather. It's Project Manager "assured" then that they had a window of opportunity for two days; so no need to worry ! So the great Indian technological progress in defence is dependent on inclement weather and available window of opportunity. Wow ! Some comfort there - didn't know War in the 21st century is that enviro-/ eco-friendly. Even my Deepawali rockets using
solid propellants would go up irrespective of whether there were clouds in the sky or there was a wet ground beneath that "launcher" bottle.
@only32owner-> The reason India's missile program and that of Tejas etc. was stalled because Indian Scientists do not have brains to work on or invent any new technology and go on the path of progress. We had to be dependent on USSR/ Russia for cryogenic engines which we still haven't designed fully and totally. We had to be dependent on USA and Russia for 4-stage solid propellant/ fuel system. We had to be dependent on Israel and USA for navigation system. Incidentally we still ride "piggy-back" on US GPS system. No one even talks about the cluster of/ "nakshatra" system of INDSAT (navigation) now. We even had to be dependent on US for testing of Kauveri engines which US even refused to return and first imposed "sanctions" and then forced GE engines down our throat. The much touted indigenous Tejas test flies on GE engines. The great Indian technology today does not even have its own wind tunnel to test out flight patterns. No one in India has a clue on how to build a nuclear reactor for a submarine and keep telling tall tales on "nuclear triad" which our intellectuals like to echo. No one's helping us - yet.
The reason we did not progress is because we could not and no one helped us to.
WHY IS IT SO ? Answer is simple - the so-called western world including Russia simply wants PRC to quantum leap ahead of India and then dump their obsolete technology in exchange of top bucks. Where do you thinks PRC's stealth fighter technology (4G & 5G) comes from ? Russia. Where does money for this Russia's technology comes from ? INDIA - under guise of Russo-Indo collaboration. Does India have that technology ? Hell - not yet!
So where's that great Indian technological progress ? CORRUPTION. We have scams with all the "Gs" (pun) - 2G, 3G, 4G - when US didn't even have a good GSM and depended solely on Qualcomm's CDMA for mass market. Today we are quantum leap ahead in terms of corruption in technology that western countries don't have yet for their private citizens.

Agree with Abhijeet much to do about NOTHING - India likes to pour the money after so called high tech and high ticket items like fighter jets tanks etc where as the jawan is left with shoddy equipment..The values are eschewed corrupt plutocracy system needs such rockets to divert some attention
Germans had them 40 years ago

There is no problem with rifle making but producing a quality barrels. The barrel making is not just equipment, it's an art and "WE" never let people acquire and allowed to have that art. Normal barrel does not have long life and burn and encroach so quick that it loose accuracy and velocity. Seen few military personal shooting at a military base with MG's and intentionally burning out barrels on one 400 round clip of MG249's. Any barrel needs to come back to the original shooting position before next shot and true to the previous shot. So producing same stiff barrels batch after batch is truly not just quality work but art too and not many achieved it , even China is way far behind. Still I said it if they can build Taj Mahal then they could do lot more but the Gov't needs to let the people open up to free competition and enterprise to produce guns - Haji
