New Delhi: In a case of road rage, a group of men fired at a man who refused to give way to their vehicle in outer Delhi. The victim escaped with minor injuries.

The incident was reported from Narela in outer Delhi on Sunday night when Vijender Khatri was travelling in his car to Bakner village.

After sometime, the driver of the vehicle which was behind, kept honking asking Vijender to give way to him.

Enraged over this, he took his car near Vijender's and started firing with his gun.

"He fired four rounds towards Khatri, two missed, one passed close to his head and another brushed past his ear. Khatri received minor injuries," a senior police official said.

The victim said he saw four-five men travelling in the car.

A case of attempt to murder against unnamed persons has been registered.

The 'victim' also appears to have been suffering from a fit of 'road rage'.

Two things:

1) Two misses, one "close by the head" (presumably a miss, too), other "brushed the ear"...... where did the minor injuries come from?

2) I honestly don't understand why people don't give way if someone is honking behind you, and the road / traffic conditions are amenable. I have seen people in Mumbai not give way even to ambulances with sirens on. Why? Is your blocking the way an expression of power? Then the guy behind will also express his power by smashing / shooting you!! (probably my road rage showing!!!)

Having said that, these shooting incidents happen in our country because of lack of proper RKBA. If there is a (almost) zero chance of the other guy being armed, I will be encouraged to use mine as a power tactic. If there is a 90% chance of the other guy being armed, I'll keep my gun safely in my holster! Simpla maths!

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation...

And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Many a times the situation is resolved just by brandishing the weapon there is no need to spend the expensive ammo
