According to a report in The Times of India, apparently, India is one of the 25 countries where large scale snooping of citizens is carried out please ref http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech ... 960023.cms

here is what it says:

"Mass interception of entire populations is not only a reality, it is a secret new industry spanning 25 countries, according to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. These countries include India, US, UK, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. "

"There are three Indian companies in the WikiLeaks list of surveillance companies. These are Shogi Communications, ClearTrail and Shield Security. "

Seriously, this is very bad if it is true

To put it in a way the very people who assure us of our safety and tell that tht we dont need rkba because they have taken precautions are using resources to snoop on us for their safety and insecurity. So we arent even safe from the people we elect.

here is a snippet of an article about the Indian government asking google, facebook, yahoo to monitor content:

"The Indian government has asked Internet companies and social media sites like Facebook to prescreen user content from India and to remove disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory content before it goes online, three executives in the information technology industry say.

Top officials from the Indian units of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Facebook are meeting with Kapil Sibal, India's acting telecommunications minister, on Monday afternoon to discuss the issue, say two executives of Internet companies. The executives asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak to the media on the issue"
