This belonged to my Great-grand father so easily more then 70 years old. Its made in switzerland under the trademark Allegro. Has British and US patents. Used for sharpening twin blades and has a triangular stropping surfaces :- black stone ,green stone and leather. Each forward stroke of the slide sharpens the front edge and the return stroke for the second edge

It is a sharpener for double edge razor blades.

For this type of razor:

You can see the blade being held on the right side, and the dark sharpening stone is running diagonally across the sharpener. So you would make a few passes then turn the blade over and make a few more passes, then change the stone to the next finer grit.

Moin Thanks . cannot try as the system is made for slightly different blade style . Not for the modern pre sharpened blades.
Thanks mark for the explanation. but i think this system is not for the modern blades

I see a modern blade in it, were you not able to sharpen it satisfactorily?

I have just put the blade for reference , But the thickness of the blade seems to be less to sharpen it.
