Hi!
Does anyone have an idea as to why this web-site is not opening on my Laptop as well as on my Desktop, but works perfectly well on my mom's Desktop?
Missing IFG since I cannot be using my mom's computer every time.
Regards,
Ticky

1) Is your laptop, desktop and your mom's desktop connected to the internet by sharing a common internet connection from same ISP or use seperate internet connections from different ISPs?
2) Did you make any changes to the settings of security software in the broadband router/firewall?
3) Did you make any changes to your laptop and desktop like updated or installed some security software?
4) Are you able to browse to all other websites except IFG?
5) What is the error message you are getting?
6) What are the troubleshooting steps you have done till now?

what kind of browser do you use, what do you mean NOT OPENING. when you pointing your browser on
http://indiansforguns.com/ what do you see, can you open other web sites - like google.
in case if you are using pirated Windows, it is illegal and against IFG policies !!!

@goodboy_mentor:
1) No. They are on seperate connections. Both are on BSNL Broadband. My desktop and laptop work on the same connection.
2) No I did'nt but after reading your post, did turn off the firewall and tried tried opening the website and it still won't open.
3) The only recent thing I did was to have Norton's one month free trial version installed, but the forum was working in the beginning even after the installation of Norton.
4) No error messages. The website would take forever to open and end up never opening.
5) Nothing except what is mentioned in point#2.
@ Subal das & ssmickey.32:
Nothing is illegal on my comps. I use Internet Explore 8 on my desktop and 9 on my laptop for a browser. Tried Firefox and it still would'nt work. All other websites open and work including Google which is my Homepage.

Ticky.

next useful information will be your windows version XP or 7 or any other
first of all you need to determine if your computer can reach IFG
if you on WInXP go to START --> All programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt
in black window type ping -t 203.92.35.224
then after some time CTRL-C to terminate ping, then post here what you see.
in my case
Ping statistics for 203.92.35.224:
Packets: Sent = 115, Received = 115, Lost = 0
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 37ms, Maximum = 88ms, Average = 43ms
that mean my comp can see IFG

I am experiencing similar issues. I cannot pin down the cause. It come and goes. This has just started in the last week or two.
On some computers that never had any problems accessing IFG, suddenly the site will not respond. It says "server failed to respond".
This week I can access IFG from work but not from home. Last week it was the opposite. However, when I used an anonymizer, however, it worked fine
At first I thought it was a DNS issue with my ISP. However, I use the same ISP at work and at home so that isn't it.
So then I thought that the IFG server was blocking my IP address. However, I was assured that this was not the case.

@ Subaldas: When you say "ping -t 203.92.35.224" , can you please specify if there is a space after ping and after t?
@ xl-target: This was the same problem in my comp. In the beginning, it used to work on and off and of late, it has stopped altogether. However, I would like to know what an anonymizer is.

@ airgun_novice: I am using LAN on my desktop and WIFI on the laptop, but both are on the same connection. My mom's comp is on a seperate connection.

IFG hosted on e2enetworks.net.in server in Delhi and not a best choice at all imho
for xl_target it naturally may take more time, and sometime it may go off line too
try some trace rout program and see how many routers between you and server62.e2enetworks.net.in
here is my case, quite good
Tracing the path to 203.92.35.224 on TCP port 80 (www), 30 hops max
1 * * *
2 * * *
3 * * *
4 * * *
5 * * *
6 * * *
7 server62.e2enetworks.net.in (203.92.35.224) [open] 39.249 ms 42.575 ms 41 .452 ms
Ticky, most probably your computer is fine but BSNL is total mess. I bet your WIFI router also been also set for WEP, as it always done by BSNL specialists. WEP stands for Wire Equivalent of Privacy and can be cracked by any kid with aircrack-ng in average in 6 minutes. Never use BSNL it is most chocked and badly configured network in India.

@ xl-target: This was the same problem in my comp. In the beginning, it used to work on and off and of late, it has stopped altogether. However, I would like to know what an anonymizer is.
In the most basic terms, an anonymizer is a service that you go through that hides your IP address. This makes it appear that you are coming in from a different location.
I have used
http://anonymouse.org with success. Once the page comes up, just put in
http://www.indiansforguns.com in the little box on the page. You will, however, see advertisements pop up on your screen which you then have to remove by clicking the X in the top roght corner. That is the price you have to pay for using a free service. If you cannot access anonymouse, just google "free anonymizer" and you should have some choices.

@ Ticky and xl_target: I had faced similar problem and posted it at
http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9561 The problem was overloaded DNS servers of ISP and after I forced the IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 of public DNS servers of google, the problem has been permanently solved. You may try forcing the google's public DNS IP addresses for your TCP/IP connection in your router and/or PC and see if it solves the problem. The instructions for forcing the DNS IPs are available at
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

Subal and GM,
Thanks for the assistance. I replaced my router at home and this problem seems to have gone away.
