I'm not a sports-gunner nor am I a gun-enthusiast. I don't go hunting either. I want to buy a handgun for self-defence only. I have two choices - the 0.32'' Long Barrel, Premium Revolver (ANMOL) by IOF, Kanpur; and the 0.32'' Pistol (ASHANI) by IOF, Cossipore. Guys, PLEASE HELP me decide!!!

One more point to add in my previous question - the cost of the ANMOL Revolver is about 22000.00 more than the cost of the ASHANI Pistol. Does the increase in price of the Revolver means that it is of superior quality??

Friend,
for self defence go for a revolver, if u can refer to a good dictionery, revolver means a rapid firing pistol.
I have a revolver for the same purpose and never think about a pistol .
I have used pistol also of good foreigh made but will never recomend to a friend and always recomend to a foe.

Regards,
Kuwar.

the 0.32'' Long Barrel, Premium Revolver (ANMOL)
You might find that it is everything but "premium". :D

Not necessarily, unless you are Bob Munden ! :D
By definition, a revolver is a repeating firearm that has a cylinder containing multiple chambers and at least one barrel for firing. Leaving aside the malfunction arguments offered by the pro-sixgun enthusiasts, a semi-automatic pistol, any day, would fire faster than a revolver if one knew how to shoot optimally. I guess the revolver vs semi-auto pistol debate would never end and there are several threads on IFG regarding the issue.

Unless you really like the long barreled revolvers, why don't you consider a 3" barrel IOF Mark III revolver ? It is 26K cheaper and 2inches shorter than Anmol , it is the same revolver and more convenient for concealed carry if needed. There are two threads running on IFG, one is on the regular IOF .32 revolver ....http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2298 . and the other one is on Anmol .... http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13256
KIndly go through both, it will help you make up your mind.

Oh and by the way they do not know what "Superior Quality" means at the IOF !!

best,
Rp.

Thanks a lot, Kuwar, xl_target, The Doc & thebrowningeffect. I'll consider the 3'' barrel Revolver.
