I was looking at buying a new DSLR (am upgrading from my 5 year Olympus E1) and was seriously considering the Nikon D90. While looking at options, i came across the E PL2

I know they both are very different, but the E PL2 looks very interesting and wanted to know if someone had any first hand experience using it.

That is easy...go for the Nikon D90. If its your first SLR system, look at Canon as well.
If you are in India, better to go for Nikon or Canon. Lenses lineup for Nikon is better.

I'd go for a Nikon or Canon. Photographic quality is excellent for both. The latter, however, has a slight edge on the amount of image processing functions, accessories and flexibility. I state this because I have a Nikon, and recently am beginning to feel the slight limitations. Yet, I can't fault it on the quality of photos.

I prefer compact cameras nowadays & do not look forward to lugging around bulky Dslr, though one cannot do without the Dslr when you need fast auto focus specially for wildlife.

I met a gentleman who was in the process of publishing his book in UK, he had taken all the images with a olympus micro 4:3 camera, he had done test runs with the printer & they were pleased with the results.

A compact camera which is creating a lot of buzz is the fuji x100, though it comes with a fixed 35mm lens, expensive at $1200, the images shot at 6400 iso are amazing. Some photographer claims the x100 images are sharper than a canon 5D with 35mmL lens.
