my dear IFG'ans won't you all think it would nice to have a list of ifg members?if the moderators can do it,it would be perfect.just to know each other better,and will be easy to communicate.no prob's if it is too time consuming.wanna give some credit to those behind the screen.i like perfection.

I too have wondered on this topic, since it would permit us to locate and meet up with members in our respective areas, especially when legal issues crop up.

some members may not want to be contacted, thus one needs to respect their privacy, no?

OK, maybe we work out something like a Do Not Call registry. Those who do not wish to could explicitly notify this.

I guess this would require some modification to the phpBB script but nothing that Abhijit can't handle

How about we post a topic and those who want to be on such a list could send there contact information on PM to one designated member who could then compile the list.

We already have threads on what we do, how we look and how our guns look.

Only 25% of the total membership of IFG posts, of them 75% do not go beyond repeating the same questions on which handgun or which air rifle, despite there being elaborate threads/stickies

As far as the rest go, we pretty much know each other, and can use the pm facility to get in touch anyway. Fantumfan organised a splendid local meet, and members in the UK, and Delhi (for example) meet up when they desire, without referencing an elaborate membership list.

I'd suggest everyone to make a Google Docs excel sheet, and share the link with the members.

The member strength of this forum has, I suppose, gone to a good number. Many of us are from the same city. The number is still more from a bigger city. Still, unless we search the locations of each individual member, we can not ascertain who lives where. In other words, we are not aware of the locations of each other; or the locations of the members living nearby us...!
If we have a consolidated list of all the members of the forum, I think, there will be better coordination amongst us, vis-a-vis a man to man dialogue. If we think of and are aimed at being united on this single issue, why we don't try to know each other ? It least we can know who is neares to us, and try to meet him.
Even if two members ae living far away, we can take a chance to meet somebody we come across our tours, or journeys sometimes we make throught the country.
Take my example, for instance.Savage lives just 90 kms away from me. But I didn't know of him till recently. I go to Mumbai and Pune so many times, and there are so many of us living there. But I don't know them, their address,etc. If I can have this consolidated list with cell numbers, Just imagine, what are the possibilities...
I can personally meet them, share ideas, have small meets if we are more than two, possibly a dinner too;
we can take help of such friends, for locating, buying, repairing,selling our weapons. We can explore ideas of doing much more than what we do today....
I am sure, you all can add too many things on this topic.
Just imagine, I have come to mumbai or pune so many times, and have crossed your house so many times, just in an attempt to pass time before I attend my next appointment...!!
How do you think is the idea of having a list of all members on the forum, with names, addresses, and cell numbers, and also the professions we are in....
Just thought of putting in an IDEA sirji....

You can now understand the importance of this. Too much posts on too much topics. Not possible to keep track of each one...
the earlier post has been unattended by the administrator.
Regarding some doubts on privacy and not willing to meet somebody, I can only say that a negative or dull response is enough for a member to know of his being allergic to the other... Secondly, we can not meet, so we use this medium. How come we try to contact each other now and again, and we avoid each other meeting personally.
Any comments..?
