Doctor,
All said and done how many from amongst 5409 of us are actually active? How many us actually contribute to the knowledge base?
I'm sure it's less than 540.
The crux is to push others to be inquisitive, experimentative, and to learn from others.
Then again, the major point and your pet issue is grant of licenses. Since most of the licensees are first time shooters and possessors of firearms, I feel that they to are shy to ask around. You see, it's an ego issue with them too.

Interesting observation Dr Jaikumar.
Out of these 5409 members .I have observed that many of them , who post regularly and contribute in a big way to the knowledge base; are not amongst the 1,065,070,607 of our country's population . They are either Indians living abroad or foreign nationals.

The crux is to push others to be inquisitive, experimentative, and to learn from others.
I agree with this opinion to a great extent. But all this becomes a big zero in minds of most people when faced with impractical hurdles in obtaining an arms license and the prevailing extortionate prices of firearms. How many Indians can afford to pay around Rupees 100,000 to buy a pistol/revolver/rifle? How many Indians can afford to regularly practice shooting given the extortionate cost of ammunition in India? Unless these issues are taken care of of, it will be really difficult to popularize RKBA among the masses in India. Also the local culture has its role to play. These days age old martial traditions of this country are being forgotten and so called "modern" traditions are influencing the youth.
How many people in this country know that RKBA is guaranteed by Articles 19 and 21 of our Constitution? People are being made to believe that arms are only meant for police and criminals and "normal" people to not keep arms.
They are either Indians living abroad or foreign nationals.
There is nothing wrong with Indians living in India. A situation has been created by Government, so that most of the Indians cannot even practically think of obtaining arms. At present ownership of arms is limited to a very few, elite group of people in this country. Hence the general lack of interest among the masses.

Reach out to those non-Indians with whom you have a great deal in common.

My 2 cents worth:
I seem to recall reading somewhere in a media article (I could be mistaken) that IFG propagates memberships only through word of mouth; if this is correct, then we have at least one reason to explain low IFG numbers compared to the huge population of the nation.
In this case, IFG numbers could be pushed up by other types of more aggressive promotion/visibility. OR.... am I barking up the wrong tree - entirely?

My way is to occasionally send firearm related emails to those in address book to arouse interest. Use the below signature I use at IFG, in my emails and vacation response messages.
