Couldnt help myself so here goes...

Did anybody attend the Mavlankar shoot this year?

I was amazed to see that the image they had chosen was of a shooter shooting a semi!!

Ironic isnt it that they use the image of a Prohibited weapon in an event meant to encourage shooters.

well this is India after all.

what really gets me is this (National meet in rifle/pistol from January 15

The 54th National shooting championships in rifle and pistol will commence from January 15, 2011. The competition will be held at Delhi's Karni Singh Shooting Ranges. The dates of the tournament is tentative and subject to change also. Shooters from acorss the country are expected to take part in the competition. For more details)

how the heck can someone book time off to attend? when even the NRAI are not sure of its own dates? just image your are from the south and book your hoilday and fleights etc to find out that they have change location and dates?

Joke indeed. Authorities anywhere seem to be a bit off the commonsense sometimes.

Check this out.Snapped at UK's largest Clay shooting ground in Southern Counties, Dorset.

Vikram, for a moment i thought you had photoshopped it.
I was surprised that to see how much weight i had gained but then thought "the camera adds 10 pounds". :D

Then I realised that i wouldnt have my finger on the trigger.

Semi Auto is officially allowed in both Trap and Skeet shooting disciplines. It's just that these days shooters prefer 0/U s. One is not allowed to load more then two shots in the mag though. One loads a single cartridge for the single bird and two for the doubles in skeet. Likewise one is allowed to load two cartridges in trap shooting at every station. I assume a registered shooting club can possess an auto loader. Also turns out much cheaper to buy them for the members as an initial investment.
Please correct me if I am wrong on this subject.

That's when I realized that it couldn't be our shooter :)

The ISSF boys must be really pissed off about that poster.

you are right that semi's are allowed in competition.
Remington 1100 won many skeet competitions.
But in india it is a PB. Hence the irony and this post.
