Strange Ludhiana District Rifle Association

I have been searching for whereabouts of Ludhiana District Rifle Association from last two years. Luckily I got some lead in this matter a couple of days ago. I found out that some Mr. Garcha is operating DRA's day to day business from his home itself . No office , no other existence . I don't know weather this is recognized by Punjab State Rifle Association. And above all they asked for Rs 15500/- as membership fee. God know how are they managing this stuff. And the worst part is that If it's been so hard for a person like me to find these guys , how can a student or a shooting enthusiast succeed in getting some help from this association. And I aslo want to tell you that there is another genius guy named Raja K.S.Sidhu who is chief mentor of Punjab Rifle Association in Mohali . And asking something from him is even worse than asking from a dead man. I remember that a few years ago I managed a meeting with him and instead of helping in managing a membership of any sort he behaved as if he is from some other planet, So much arrogance . He only obliges kids of political biggies . Only god can help us , as I have lost all the hope from these buggers.

IMHO forget about these people. If you want to make things moving, convince and mobilize group of people like prominent people of area, panchayat members etc. of nearby villages and make a representation to the district administration to get a piece of land allotted for firing range where people can come and practice target shooting safely. Alternatively find if any common waste land owned by any panchayat etc. is there. Once the piece of land is allotted or found, you can get a Rifle Club registered. There are IFG members who are familiar with paper work as they have/or are about to start rifle clubs. Reference:

grewal,
Why not join the NRAI instead of the state or district rifle associations? Check out the details of membership under the relevant section.

Anand

If its Gurinder Garcha then I was informed by a senior member then he runs Ludhiana Rifle Assoc which is affiliated to PRSA. Incidentally I am in the same boat trying to look up status of my membership - which I was eons ago. Try locating these guys and you may find a way out otherwise follow Anands advise.
Good luck

YOu think thats difficult, try joining Rajasthan state riflr assoc.
I have posted about it in the past as well.
Forget office or address there is no phone or contact.
Once you track mr **** down, you still cant get in.
Therre is no enrty fees known because telling the entry fees is the first step into telling you about membership.
I have lived there most my life i dont even know how to become a member, no forget that, how to even apply.
When i have asked other shooters, they have said they will stop shooting if i can become a member.
I was told with money and contacts one can get into mavalankar representing rajasthan but cant get its membership.

I don't know where is the system, who monitors them. As shooter has said same is the case in Ludhiana . I dont know whom to ask for authentication of the officials . This Raja K.S.Sidhu is such a b*****d that once I met him and asked for assistance to start big bore shooting , he literally refused to listen to any of my plea . Even though I had a sifarish of some close aid of this Raja Sidhu but no , he was not ready to listen to anything . I sometime feel really frustrated cause we cannot do anything about this system.

I may be shooting totally in the dark here but there is one ray of hope in the shooting sports. The gentleman in question is Jaspal Rana. Try to get in touch with him and you can visit his academy in Dehra Dun. here apparently you can stay for a few days, take coaching with meals and acco provided for.
If you feel that might want to give it a try then I will dig out the contact persons name etc. Or else try joining the DSRA, one can get a wild card entry to the Big Bore competition by paying a forfeiture fee.
The amount will be deducted if you score lower than a certain percentage.
Another thing is that Big Bore will be pretty expensive, even one round of competition will leave one's wallet lighter by about twenty to thirty k if not more. Might be better to do small bore as .22 ammo is cheaper and won't hurt to practice year around. I hope that you aren't offended by my saying that it is expensive assuming that you are an average joe. But if you normally attach the letters HRH before your name then please excuse my humble words.

Grewal sahib,
Same with me on Raja Sidhu issue. Once I called him on his cell and he told that there are equipment worth 200 crores installed in his shooting range. Better come to watch shooting during championships with his prior permission. He is discouraging everytime. In his range Kakas of super cop and politicians could be seen shooting.
How about proposal to start our own association as offshoot of NAGRI?

Not at all Dev , you are completely right. The only reason for me to opt for big bore shooting was in case I had got Patronage of the Shooting association . cause I came to know that these association guys offer cartridges at Rs 10/- per piece which I felt was quite economical. And one more fact the ammunition meant for associations finds their way to open market . This fact was disclosed by the gun Shop owner himself.
