Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Q). Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me ?
A). Never carry a chambered pistol inside your pants pocket or the back of your pants like the movies, you're asking for the family jewels to get blown off or get shot in your backside.

Re: OUR PAKISTANI COUNTER PART
Hi guys, I'm admin at PakGuns, I was surprised to see all the traffic coming our way from your forum so decided to check it out.
First of all, I come in peace, Please ignore any jingoistic comments made by members on our forum, it is inevitable when anything India Pakistan is under discussion.
You guys have a nice forum and I can relate to your pain at the insane firearms prices you guys have to live with. We think we have it bad when we have to pay a $2000 premium for a Glock and a $5000 premium for an HK. How are ammo prices over in India btw and what are the gun laws like ? Our most widely used bore is .30 followed by 9mm. .357, .45, .44 Magnums are mostly enthusiasts calibers. .32 was popular about a decade back but it's kind of useless and .32 weapons have very low market resale prices. I recently sold one of my Walther's PP .32 for 35 K Pakistani, around 400 USD. Revolvers are not that popular currently, the most popular pistol in Pakistan is the Chinese .30 TT and it's local varients, the current favourite is the 9mm CF98. Both sell for around 400 USD new in box.
Our high market prices are due to the export restrictions put on Pakistan by the west but I don't understand why they shouldn't be selling their product lines in India right left and center. Most of our small arms are imported from China and South America.
Getting a firearms license is not a big deal, costs around 200 USD for an "All Pakistan" license and about a month's waiting time. There are also provincial licenses which are valid only in the specific province and cost about half as much. All Pakistan licenses have to be sent for renewal once every 5 years.
There are some special licenses issued which are called P.B (Prohibited Bores). You can pretty much buy and keep anything auto on them, however getting those licenses is a bit tricky, involves a MNA (Member National Assembly) and costs about 10 times as much as a normal NPB license. Ak47 is fairly common and is the most widely used auto in Pakistan. It used to cost around 500 USD two / three years back but now costs 1500 USD for a refurbished Russian. Local made copies of the Ak are pretty decent and available for less for 500 USD for a high quality piece. 7.62 Ammo sells for less than 40 cents a bullet, 5.56 is 50 cents, 9mm is 35 cents.
Hope you guys found info from our side of the border interesting. You guys are most welcome to ask questions on our forum and you'll find us all most accommodating InshAllah. Just a word of caution we are a purely firearms enthusiast forum, we do not allow any kind of religious or political discussion.

Re: OUR PAKISTANI COUNTER PART
Dear Abbas,
Hearty welcome to IFG.Thank you for registering and providing us with informative insights into the firearms scenario in Pakistan.I believe I registered on your forum when it was still very nascent but never followed it up.We do have a few members from your country on IFG and they have always been very polite, friendly and willing to share knowledge.
You will find out more as you go through our boards, we have a very restrictive licensing regime and no imports are allowed except under very limited conditions like marksmen of renown. As a result of the skewed excessive demand and too little supply system in place, we have what can only be described as astronomical prices for pedestrian wares.
Thank you for the welcome to your forum. We do operate here, like you, on the principle of ''sportsmen sans frontier'' and shun any kind of political discussions except related to licensed, responsible and legal ownership of firearms.
Here wishing to the friendship of gun enthusiasts.
Best-
Vikram

Welcome Abbas,
.32 S&W long and .32 ACP are the commonest handgun calibers that we have here . I hope your deliberations are fruitful on IFG and you have a good time.

Re: OUR PAKISTANI COUNTER PART
Welcome aboard Abbas
You folks have a very informative site/forum. The members here have pretty much summed up. You can search this forum for your questions on law etc. Cost of guns lets say that your Walther PPK could have fetched easily upwards of $10000 and ammo inst that cheap either remember a friend buying imported .32 at Rs 50 each.
Gun lic holders who are lucky enough to travel abroad can bring in 50 odd cartridges. Licensing authority also endorses number of rounds or ammo a person can own for a gun on annual basis - this sometimes looks like an arbitrary number issuing authority enters. Getting a lic well its a luck of draws and an uphill task.
Also, is there a limit on number of guns a person can own? Here its 3 maximum unless person is a renowned shooter. Renowned shooters can import ammo and they are also issued some from sports authority or NRAI. All in all its insanely expensive sport on this side of the border and very restrictive gun laws.
Do post often especially any reviews of the guns and picture is worth thousand words.
Rest as Vikram mentioned we have members from gun owner fraternity all over the world as are few of the forum moderators and steer clear of any other political or other riff raff discussions.
Cheers

Re: OUR PAKISTANI COUNTER PART
I would like to correct ngrewal; a .32 ppk could fetch anywhere between 8 lacs to 12 lacs (INR) here in Mumbai and an imported .32ACP round is between Rs. 250 to 300.ngrewal wrote:Welcome aboard Abbas
