Funny what was he doing with the muzzle pointing at his face! Makes me wonder what kind of training they undergo......

All it takes is momentary lapse and reflex action guard down for the accident to unfold especially when one hasnt shot for a while...but the IOF has a fair share too the pistols and the ammo they make are horrendous. I have personally seen these pistols jam on every other bullet with the range folks reminding the shooter keep the weapon pointed away... Its a frustrating experience firing these guns caustic remark was these jams teach the shooter to keep the composure..
Its about time IOF switches its guns makes quality weapons and ammo maybe something good could come from this tragedy. I know beating a dead horse...

TOI reports that his 9mm Beretta jammed suddenly. It misfired while he was trying to ascertain what had gone wrong.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Mere speculation but I some how feel the IOF ammo did him in. We all know the ammo supplied to our forces is way outdated. Even the forces try expanding all the ammo that has been lying with them long long time at practice sessions. This could have been a case of hang fire but the mistake the Rear admiral made was to point the barrel towards himself to check the pistol out. It is indeed a great loss to us to have lost such an able soldier. RIP.
