Incidentally, all of the above were copied from pics in books or magazines. In other words, I am no artist. Just trying to show the fun one can have with fountain pens.

I cannot recall where I saw the rhino but if I recall correctly, the other two were from a book titled, "How To Live With a Calculating Cat" Apparently, a book gifted by my father to my mother after they were married.

About that ink, yes i guess it is meant for the Pilot roller pens. Didnt know it could screw up the fountain pens but i guess i dont have much to worry about the pen i am using right now. However i picked up a lamy and have few other pens on order, so would like to know what ink would be recommended. I like darker shades in all colours, not a fan of the light/diluted looking shades of blue and black. Any suggestions?

Do post pics and details of your new Lamy and the other fountain pens when they arrive.

I use J. Herbin Perle Noire and Platinum Carbon ink for black inks and Diamine Midnight for my dark blue ink. I import my ink supply once a year as I find this to be cheaper. If you do not wish to wait or don't mind paying the premium, you could order from Pens Avenue in Malad - http://www.pensavenue.com

You could also try the blues and blacks from Sailor, Waterman, Sheaffer, Lamy and Pelikan at a William Penn outlet closest to you.

Amongst Indian inks, I primarily use Bril Royal Blue and Blue Back. Their black is more of a dark grey.

I will do a dip test sample of the blues and blacks I currently have at hand and post it here. This will take some time as I will need to clean the nib and feed after each ink.

Your sketches are very impressive!
I especially like the tonal variations which give the sketches a sense of depth & perspective....
Just for info - did you use more than one type of nib to achieve them?

I have actually already ordered the J. Herbin stormy grey from them to try out. Also called for blue-black Lamy and Platinum cartridges.

Hello Brihaji,

These three sketches are from 1991 and 1992. As I recall, they were drawn with an Extra Fine and Fine Rotring Art Pens. A painting brush and water were used to create the 'wash'.

Kshitij, Herbin's Stormy Grey is a curious choice considering you liked your blues and blacks to be saturated. Look forward to the writing samples as well.

Got the stormy grey cause it seemed different Dont know how often i might end up using it though. I ordered the blue-black shade for the cartridges, hoping they will be dark enough. Will put pictures once i get everything.

All samples below were written with the same fountain pen and on the same paper.

Missing inks - Montblanc Blue-Black (iron gall), Sheaffer Skrip Black, Pelikan 4001 Black, Bril Blue-Black, Waterman Floida Blue and Waterman Black.

Earlier version of Lamy's Blue-Black was a permanent iron gall ink but that is not the case any more.
