Any PC Gamers among us?

Post by hamiclar01 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 12:21 pm

......if there are, do they have any suggestions for a Vista based First person shooter?

Gave up gaming years ago, and now feel I the itch on my index . I don't have time for Strategy and don't do Sims. Just a mindless no nonsense set up with good graphics that works on Vista. Something in the line of Quake(s) and Doom(s). Absolutely adored the two and their sequels, but they just don't work on Vista

Officially speaking, the list I'm supposed to choose from, becasue it has microsoft's seal of approval, is:

Thanks in advance

Avid Flightsimmer. Neglecting flightsimming since I remembered how much I liked guns about a year ago. You might like to try Battlefield 2, a peer goes ga ga about it in the office.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Medal Of Honour -series
Call Of Duty-series
Grand Theft Auto-series
HALO2 (Has got a great multi-player gaming community worldwide). Its the closest match to the Quake/Doom series with a wide range of maps and modes.

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
Call of Duty

Both on X Box 360. Find the first second one better.M1 Grand, MP5 and the Colt 45. Specially love the tanks and jeeps.

Thanks for the replies gents.

is there a Vista version for Medal of honour? couldn't find it on the net?

might have to give Halo a try. have been shying away from it due to the iffy graphics, compared to Gears of war.

Anyone tried Fallout? It's got rave reviews

Interestingly, i did manage to get Doom 3 to work..........on my Mackintosh!!

COD4 Modern Warfare is available in PC.
HALO 2 isnt that bad when it comes to graphics, Its actually the multiplayer experience that takes the cake, try out the Halo: Combat Evolved Custom Edition (Multiplayer only) for starters, it doesnt have a campaign mode to start with, but then you can only play against 'predictable' AI for so long.A favourite amongst most folks is the 'Sniper' weapons only 'Blood Gulch' Map.

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, IMO is one of the best FPS around. But to really appreciate the game it has to be played in multiplayer mode.
