I salut and sincere thanks to Bangalore Police.Today one of my colleagues (Lady) and I got down from the office bus. After we walked 500 meter there was a cab driver who was sitting inside the cab, he spit on my colleague, I was telling that driver pls look outside and spit. Instead of asking sorry, he was very aggressive and using bad words. Immediately I called 100 and informed about this incident. They were very polite and sent the police immediately to the spot. They solved the issue and had given the warning to the cab driver. After an hour I got a call from police control room, they had checked whether the issue is resolved or not. Once again sincere thanks to Police department... Be Proud we have a good security system in the city."

Good morning sir,
A couple of days ago I had called the control room to complain about the wrong double parking happening on NR ROAD and I was unable to remove my vehicle. I immediately got a call within 5 mins from SJP Station and a constable on duty came to help me. I was very happy. He came and got the other wrongly parked vehicle cleared within 15 mins which was great. I thanked him profusely. I thought he might ask me some money but he didnt which took me for a surprise. Very happy that BTP is really concerned about people's problems and help us out.
Thank you Bangalore Police. Am proud to say I'm a kannadiga and proud Bangalorean"

If the response time is 20 minutes, it is of absolutely no help to a potential victim.
If it is 2-3 minutes, then Bangalore has undoubtedly THE BEST police force in THE WORLD and I congratulate the residents there.
Coming back to my point, if we have such a great police force, which residents/ citizens seem to trust implicitly - then why are these apps doing the rounds?
Cheers!

The main highlight of the app is the location sharing Abhijeet. I wont say Bangalore police is the best in India. That credit goes to the Tamil Nadu police. But they are very receptive.

Re: What do you think of this initiative
Farook, brother, I don't live in Bangalore, but I do travel there once a quarter or so. Apart from the fact that the cops look rather funny wearing ANZAC style hats, I didn't see any means with the cops to deal with the deadly traffic except the usual sirens. How will a cop reach within 2-3 minutes if he has to battle through the traffic? Assuming all good intentions on the part of the cops, of course!
But the chap on the FB page takes the cake - calling cops for someone accidentally spitting on you!! No disrespect meant to the poster, but this is the kind of mentality which is a huge obstacle to RKBA in India - the feeling that the coppers are there as nursemaids to the populace. I remember a similar incident (in my distant youth) when the pan chewer's jaw was summarily introduced to my fist.
Plus my original doubt was whether the person who gets the SMS reaches in time to stop the crime. The police are nowhere in the picture! Remember, the mango person probably doesn't have a siren on his car.
I would much rather use phone memory for Angry Birds or Candy Crush Saga or Temple Run rather than wasting precious memory with these useless apps.
And, Ashokji, where did indigo come in the picture? Unless you are referring to my car!!!

Traffic is bad in Bangalore no doubt about it. There are as I said patrolling vans called Hoysalas placed are regular intervals. Thats how they get there fast.
