Govt officials or thugs!!!

Post by kushgrewal » Sat Jul 27, 2013 2:28 am

Hello fellow members.
I went to the DC office today and to my surprise it turns out that the form for applying a new arms licence is for 1250rs.
The price of this same form used to 27 rs as informed to me by a guy who works there.
These govt officials are extorting huge sums of money for their own gains.
Why should i pay them 1250 bucks for something that is just 27 rs.
That is almost 40 times the original value.

Arms license application form is available free for download at MHA website. What is the need to run to DC office for it? Moreover one can send application via speed post as per Rule 51(b) of Arms Rule 1962. The status of application can be tracked via RTI.

Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low caliber and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight among themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India....

It is because of the ignorance, especially the legal illiteracy of arms license applicants.

AFAIK, all application forms are free. Anywhere in India. The license booklet is 10 bucks. In Gujarat that is waived too.

It's the passport of your rifle. Once a license is issued to an applicant the booklet contains the identity of the individual, the details of the firearm s/he is permitted to own, area validity, ammo quota etc. it pretty much looks like a passport too.

There are no charges for getting forms- in Delhi you can download all of them off the licensing branch's website. From whatever I have read till now the Delhi LA seems to be the most efficient department, if not law adhereing.

Thanks.
I really didnot know what a licence booklet is. I was a little confused between the actual licence and the application form booklet.
Though i have handled almost every single kind of firearm that is issued to the police, i do not have any knowledge about the official side of having firearms.

@Kush- I have seen that almost every city has a different application format for arms license. Since each DM adds points of verification at his descrition.
I have applied from two cities that I am eligible (for different weapons) but both were different within same state, also when I applied for third one for my wife from the same city the format was changed.

So please weigh your pockets before getting into arena of weapon license.

Thanks perfectionist.
Looks like i will have to ask for the help of someone who works in the arms office itself.only he can tell me what actually goes on and what are the essential documents that i should submit so that my licence is not rejected.
Lets hope for the best.
