Puppies in well looked after by cobra

Post by Mark » Mon May 20, 2013 12:01 pm

Pretty interesting, anyone know anything about it?

PUNJAB – Some time ago, near Punjab, India, two puppies fell into a well by accident. Their owner looked for them, and he heard that mother dog is barking near the nearby well. He came and saw the pups. Luckily for them, well almost had no water, except for one part, which was also full of mud.

The man wanted to get them, when he saw big snake. It was King Cobra, one of the deadliest snakes in India. He thought that the snake will eat the pups, but he was wrong. It seemed that Cobra didn’t let puppies to go to this sludge, where they would surely drown in mud.

The owner of the puppies called for help, but snake experts were far away, so he waited. It took two days for help to come, and during that time, Cobra didn’t let puppies to die, nor have attacked them in any way. Men pulled out the snake and puppies without any problem. Pups went to their mother, and the snake was released into the forest.

When you hear of a story like this, you got to ask yourself: ”How come that one snake, considered to be an ultimate hunter and killer, can have mercy?” Wise men say that we can learn more from animals, than from ourselves, and this is just one example of it.

Very touching indeed. Especially of the snake being released in the forest.
One will find similar stories from of a lioness protecting an Oryx.
Pic shows a common cobra and not a King Cobra which is also not the "deadliest snake in India"
Many net sites are sharing this story but is believed to be not true.
But Thanks for sharing.......

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Possible hoax. & then again probably not.

Brief Analysis
Although the images themselves appear to be genuine, the apparent motivation of the snake is - of course - nothing more than wide-eyed speculation. Attempting to apply human emotions and behaviours to animals is demeaning to both the animals and the humans spreading such tales. As yet, I have found no credible information about where and when the photographs were taken or what actually happened to the puppies or the snake.

Even if the details regarding the puppies falling into the well are all true, we still can’t be sure of the snake’s intent in such a situation. Was the snake guarding them, or simply in a defensive posture against two creatures too big to eat?

Nice story and images, Mark....very touching!

True or not - I do not wish to explore - the tale is in itself - an eye opener! :D
