Beagle or Lab? Which dog breed?

Dunno about Delhi, but Mumbai prices would be about 12-15 K for a normal (not show quality) lab and higher (18+) for a beagle (as the latter is not very common in India, blah blah) - prices are for about a year or so back. Getting a dog from a shelter is also a very good idea (unless you are bent on the pedigree, in which case you can add 3-4 K to the prices), as your budget will be eaten up (almost 4-5 K, AFAIR) by the initial vaccines, food bowls, toys, collars, etc.

And you can forget about dogs not shedding! All of them shed, the short haired ones shed short hairs, but the amount of shedding is the same. Even if you brush / bathe them as frequently as possible, they'll shed! But then they'll look at you with that kind of expression only dogs can achieve.......
