XL, Thank you and I do miss him terribly. When I was home last time, he promptly stopped sleeping in my father's or brothers room and insisted on sleeping in my room.Every night.

Lovely Dachshunds you have there. They are intelligent dogs.

Prashant, nice looking Dalmatian and funny story.

MoA,You must post the latest picture of your Great Dane.

There's a pic on the net of an Irish Wolfhound (mascot of some Irish Regiment) being introduced to and shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth. The pooch, standing normally, is taller than Her Majesty!! And very solemnly shaking hands!!!!! Ah, the responsibilities of Royalty!!!
True essdee.
But Her Majesty is not a very tall lady (to put it politely) .lol

Beware of Dog.

My Dalmation died on 10th Feb . He was 13. A ripe age for a dog.
I am no dog expert.
But we have always kept dogs.
I had thought of keeping a Doberman this time. So (against everyones opinion) I went ahead and got one.
My friend who is a Vet and has been looking after my dogs for sometime now told me that the maximum bites from his patients came from the same breed.
Another friend questioned my judgment and told me that with two little girls at home I should have gone for a Labrador instead.
Some said they were just right for the Cops to pin down thugs.
History says that they were selectively bred by crossing the Rottweiler , German Pincher, Grey Hound and some other breeds to create an intimidating, fearless, ferocious and aggressive beast which would help it's owner one Mr Louis Dobermann in the dangerous and unpredictable role of Collecting Tax.
Here's a snap of my "Beast in the Making" sharing his meal with a friend.

Adorable beast you have there! What is the story with the chick, are they friends or just hungry at the same time?

Aloha,

We have, at present, 3 Australian Cattle Dogs. We used to have 5. Two have passed on.

We got them because the preveious neighborhood we used to live in wasn't the best.

Here they are napping

Image

They are a very hardy breed and very smart. Learns quickly.

Originally bred to herd cattle in the Australian Outback.

Since we moved, they are now a bunch of couch potatos.

First saw one in movie "Mad Max" it's the one holding the shotgun trigger cable in it's mouth.

Extrmely friendly as long as you do not attack me or the Wife. The are our First line of Defense.
