I can say you all that the INDIAN ORDINANCE FACTORY is just producing the useless guns not just fit for the players nor for the shooting hobbyist well what ever they call to be their intellectual properties just those designs are way back old 40-50 yrs old.
And if you talk of the machinery one of my friend working for HEXAGON the CMM machine manufacturer the appeared the IOF people to sell the machine.

They simply reject the order by saying this that your's are English machine its much more costlier than that of china made or Taiwan machine.

But in CIPET Bhubaneswar where I was studying during that time also CIPET use to have the CMM machine from CMB CORPORATION JAPAN(CITIZEN) Its a govt.training Institute during that time we use to manufacture some parts for HAL and DRDO

These CMM machines are used in measuring accuracy of the parts manufactured by different method before assembled into a gun.

Usually they are fitted with the leaser or infrared technique for the measurement of the individual parts in case these both of the things are not their then in that case they use to have technique of touch probe.
Although the touch probe technique is old but very very effective
