NOIDA: Three armed men robbed a senior BPO employee of his car outside a mall in Noida in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Monday when Ritesh Gupta, his wife and their two children came out of the Shopprix Mall in Sector 61 here.

A police official said: "After taking out the Maruti Swift car from the parking lot, Ritesh went to withdraw cash from the ICICI Bank ATM in a corner of the mall. His kids and wife were seated inside the car.

"When Ritesh came out and went to his car, three men came and threatened to kill him with a pistol. The assailants asked his wife and children to get down. The men then fled with the car."

Ritesh raised an alarm and a PCR van, which was stationed barely 10 metres from the robbery spot, reached there.

Eyewitnesses claimed that instead of chasing the robbers, the policemen began questioning the victims.

Helpful ingredients for robbers:
1) Unarmed car owner and occupants.
2) PCR van barely 10 meters away, but for some mysterious reason does not scare the robbers(I hope you are smart enough to understand the reason)
3) Instead of chasing the robbers, the policemen began questioning the victims.(I hope it becomes even more clear to understand, why policemen were so much interested in questioning the victims rather than chasing the robbers.)

After an experience like that, I hope Mr Gupta would be more aware of the duty he has to defend his family.

Remember, we alone have to take the responsibility of defending ourselves and our loved ones. One cannot depend on anyone else.
Another thing to remember; when you are in public, especially around ATM's.... BE AWARE of your surroundings. Look around. Do you see anyone who might be acting suspiciously?
Scan 360 degrees. If the area is crowded, you might be able to avoid a confrontation altogether if you see your assailants before they are too close.

If you do see someone coming at you or your family with a weapon, is your gun on your hip (or is it locked in the almirah at home)?
Is your gun loaded (one up the spout)? You might not have time to load it if you can already see the threat approaching you.

If someone points a gun at you or a member of your family, there is absolutely nothing to stop them from pulling the trigger, even if you comply with their wishes and give them what they want.

also, i remember seeing a post that gun license is being denied in Delhi citing the city to be "WELL POLICED", so much for that!!

The police was already present at the scene of crime and could not prevent it or chase and catch the criminals! It clearly proves that it was completely useless. People should stop having a false sense of security that police is around. Should not forget the hard fact that it is horrifically corrupt, unreliable and inefficient in most cases. Hence the premise if any location has presence of policemen or is well policed or not becomes nothing but an eyewash.

I agree, this is extremely important, we have to make not only Chidamram listen but also all other MPs in Parliament.
