Crow population in Bangalore has tripled.

Bird-hit danger on Mysore Road flyover

And you thought ‘bird hits’ was an airport headache. Drivers and riders are increasingly becoming victim to bird-hit incidents on the flyover
ird-hit incidents are generally restricted to airports or so we think. But bird hits are proving to be a major problem on the Mysore Road flyover of late. Drivers and their vehicles are increasingly suffering bird hits on the flyover. Ornithologists blame the problem on the rapid increase in the populations of crows and kites in the city, in the last five years.

> Both Crows & Kites are basically scavengers - although both chase & kill prey too.
> Their rise in population can be attributed to the increased amount of garbage thrown out by the increased population and the failure by the municipality to clear them promptly.
> Therefore these birds find it easier to acquire a meal just by foraging the garbage dumps (street corners / building compounds / fastfood stalls that dump waste food on the roads)
> Why blame the birds - If people disposed garbage properly in closed bins & municipality cleared them promptly - probably Crows & Kites would contain themselves to wooded areas & may be in the periphery of the township.

PS: Hope the BLR Municipality don't declare an Open Season on Crows & Kites!!! ROTFL
